The God Who Does Immeasurably More
Sudan 2006
“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen” (Ephesians 3:20-21).
We have read these verses countless times, memorized them, meditated on them, and prayed them back to God. But in 2006, they took on a whole new meaning, because we saw God work in ways that far exceeded our expectations – in ways we had not even dared to ask.
Church Planting
Bruce’s favorite part of the ministry here in Uganda is teaching church planting in the college and then watching the students go out and apply what they have learned. In the 20 years prior to coming to Uganda, he had been involved in 10 church plants. The initial goal when we arrived on the field was to see four new churches planted in the first two years. In fact, we have seen seven new churches in the first 18 months, including one among an unreached people group and another in an 80%- Muslim area. Three more are planned before we return to America for our Home Ministry Assignment this summer.
College & Seminary News
2006 brought many positive changes to Westminster Theological College. Our new partnerships with North-West University (South Africa) and Birmingham Theological Seminary (USA) have enabled us to offer accredited bachelor’s and master’s degrees. We expected an increase in enrollment but were unprepared for the magnitude of the response. Last year we started with 24 students in the college. As we begin 2007, we have 37 students in the undergraduate programs and an additional 34 in the Master’s program. Thus in this one year, the size of the school has tripled!
Naturally, the influx of students has brought us some challenges in regard to space, but we think this is a good problem to have. Pray that we will be able to move to the new campus soon!
Orphan Ministry
Although Uganda seems to have turned the corner on the AIDS epidemic, there are still many orphans in this country. Pam‘s primary ministry focuses on reaching out to some of these children. She serves as a liaison between the church that coordinates the American sponsors and the Ugandan churches that are receiving help for their needy children.
God can pour on the blessings in astonishing ways so that you're ready for anything and everything, more than just ready to do what needs to be done. 2 Cor. 9:8 (MSG)
Currently more than 120 children benefit from this ministry. In addition, Pam works with the Love Box ministry which reaches hundreds of children with some basic one-time assistance. Please pray that these ministries will continue to make a difference in the lives of increasing numbers of orphans.
And on a sadder note…
Along with the blessings and joys, 2006 had its share of disappointments. One of the saddest experiences for us was losing our dear friends and colleagues, Curtis and Chris DuBose, to another ministry.
They will be sorely missed, especially now as the college is growing so rapidly. Please pray that God will direct and bless them in their new ministry, and that He will raise up others to help with the work here.
Family News
We enjoyed Christmas together with our family, including Bruce’s sister and her family from Kenya. Tim and Abby, his fiancée, flew over for two weeks.
Celeste, a senior, continues to work hard at Rift Valley Academy in Kenya. She has decided to attend Covenant College in Georgia next fall. Please pray for her provision and adjustment.
Tim, a Biblical Studies major at Covenant, has decided to minor in youth ministry. Please pray for direction for him and Abby as they seek God’s will for the future.
2007 promises to be quite an eventful year for the Sinclair family. Celeste graduates in Africa on July 14th and Tim and Abby marry in Atlanta on July 21st. We will be returning to the US for the wedding and will begin our Home Ministry Assignment immediately thereafter. From August through mid-January we plan to get Celeste settled into college, visit some of our supporting churches, and raise more support for the ministry here in Uganda.
Please let us know if you are aware of available missionary housing in the Chattanooga, Tennessee or Asheville, North Carolina vicinity. We also need a vehicle to use during that time. Thanks so much for your help!

- That the new church plants are growing and thriving. (The church among the unreached Lopit people in Sudan reported 40 professions of faith and 14 baptisms in January.)
